Sophie and Ian's Buttercream Wedding Cake at The Orangery, Maidstone

Image
Sophie and Ian were married on a very hot July day in 2017 at The Orangery, Maidstone.   Sophie and Ian chose a buttercream wedding cake in a horizontal line pattern finished with sugar flowers.   The sugar flowers were based on their wedding flowers and were made to match them in the specific colours of purple, yellow and pale pink flowers with rose leaves and variegated ivy.   The flowers were placed on alternate sides of the cake on each of the 3 tiers with the foliage over handing the sides.   Sophie and Ian provided their own personalised cake topper.   The cake looked stunning on our vintage wooden crate at The Orangery and the bride and groom were very happy it.   The Orangery is a beautiful venue with fabulous gardens, if you ever get a chance to visit, I would certainly take up the offer and it’s amazing for weddings too!

The cake is finished with a burnt orange ribbon making it perfect for an autumnal wedding! It was be easy to add flowers on the top or to the bottom left corner to personalise it further. Always loads of possibilities to make it unique to you.

Shell and Callum 17th November 2018 - East Quay Venue

Image
I met Shell and Callum, at the  The Wedding Experience , at Detling, last April. They fell in love with the Silhouette Cake I had on display. Their wedding was booked for March 2019. When they came to see me to discuss their wedding cake and tasting session, they had completely changed their minds about what they wanted for their cake design, going for a mixed butter cream and iced cake. The bottom tier was to have butter cream piped roses in ivory, blush and pale peach. The second tier was to be in white icing decorated with blush  Cake Lace . The third tier was more butter cream roses as per the bottom tier and the top tier white iced with a pale pink ribbon and bow with a silver brooch. The date of the wedding changed from March to November 2018 at  East Quay Venue, Whitstable . This was my first visit to East Quay and I must say it is such a lovely venue and the staff there were all really helpful. It looked like it was going to be an amazing wedding, although N...

I wanted to write about the mega road trip I took a couple of weekends ago to deliver two very beautiful cakes. It's complicated and there are so many factors involved that I have put it off as I am not sure how to explain it clearly, but I'll give it ago! Firstly the issues involved:- 1) Wedding cake booked at Salomons Estate, Tunbridge Wells approx 16 miles west of here and on a good run takes 36 minutes. 2) Gorgeous Blackhorse Inn book a wedding open day there 11-3 on the same day. I've been a recommended supplier there for a number of years so keen to take part. I can deliver the cake and get to the Blackhorse around 11.00 no problem. 3) One of my March 2019 brides has to reschedule her wedding and also does this for the same day. This wedding is at East Quay Whitstable, 31 miles east of me and on a good run takes 43 minutes. 4) Both weddings are at 1.30pm 5) Highways England decide to shut the M20 motorway between junctions 4-6 for the whole weekend to repla...
