Hand Painted Charles Rennie Makintosh Design Wedding Cake

Becky and Luke were looking for a cake maker who could do painting on cakes and so they found me!

They had been inspired by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and wanted a cake design based on some of his distinctive designs.

When I first met Becky and Luke they hadn't yet created their design but knew they wanted a 3 tier square cake which was to be set up on a chrome off set stand (supplied by the bride). The design would come later they said. They also wanted a personalised cake topper.

The wedding was some time away and I didn't actually get to see the design until much nearer the time, by which time it had apparently gone through many different versions and simplifications until it was as final design as per the pictures on the cake below.

I used the cocoa butter painting technique to paint the design onto the two cakes and edged all 3 cakes in the purple ribbon that Becky and Lloyd had chosen

On the middle tier, Becky and Lloyd wanted a bespoke wedding cake topper. They were very keen gardeners and wanted to be modelled in their wedding outfits in their gardening roles. So Becky had to have the purple wellies and the pitch form and Lloyd had to have the green wellies and the spade. The topper sat perfectly on the middle cake tier.

The cake was set up at The Moat, Wrotham in their beautiful wedding barn.
