Vintage Suitcase Wedding Cake

Image
Many years ago I made a suitcase wedding cake for my nieces wedding. The picture was on one of my show banners and proved to be very popular at wedding shows. I'd been meaning to make a dummy version for ages but wanted to find the right cases to make. At a recent wedding show I was stood opposite a travel agent who had a stacked pile of cases as part of their display. This was the perfect inspiration. Once I had made the cases I added a passport and airline ticket to the cardboard. The cake could be easily be personalised further by adding luggage labels of places you have travelled or your honey moon destination, and may be an old fashioned brown luggage label with the couples name on and wedding date. The colours and the shapes/ designs can be changed too! The possibilities are endless.

Cadbury Chocolate Birthday Cake

Image
This amazing cake was lucky to get to the client. It was ordered as a birthday cake for one of my grooms birthdays by his now wife. The brief was a chocolate sponge cake edged in flakes and covered in many types of Cadbury Chocolate. The cake consisted on 35 flakes, twirls, wispas, a chocolate egg, various Cadbury buttons and mini picnics! It smelt divine and I was so good I didn't eat any of the sweets but my kids enjoyed the left overs :)

Heather and David, 9th November 2018 at The Barnyard

Image
Heather and David were married at  The BarnYard in Upchurch on Friday 9th November. The colours for Heather and David's wedding were dusky pink, rose gold and burgundy. When I met Heather for her consultation she came with water colour sketches of cake ideas. It's always great when brides bring sketches and colours, even if we don't go with that in the end it's a really good base to start from. Heather came up with the final design for the cake just a few weeks before the wedding. A burgundy marble bottom tier, a dusky pink lustre top and middle tier, with rose gold brush stokes on the top tier. Each tier and the cake board were edged in burgundy ribbon. The topper was provided by the bride and groom. The stand used was our wooden box stand.

I met Kate and John at The Wedding Experience Detling in April 2018. When they came to visit me for their consultation they already come up with some ideas for their cake design. Their colours were burgundy, dusky pink, ivory and silver lovely for a winter wedding. The bottom tier they wanted in the burgundy colour to match the their bridesmaids edged in burgundy ribbon, the second tier in ivory edged in a wider dusky pink ribbon. The third tier was a double height tier with a burgundy marble effect, although not deep coloured marble. This tier was edged in burgundy ribbon, whilst the top tier was to be plain ivory with their initials painted in silver off centre to the right finished in burgundy and white pencil strip ribbon. The cake was to be finished with a silver topper supplied by the bride and groom, and two sprays of sugar flowers to match the wedding flowers. The sprays were to include white Amnesia roses, silver Brunia, burgundy Ranunculus, pink spray roses, Amnesia ro...

Rustic Buttercream Wedding Cake

Image
This rustic butter cream cake was made for a wedding fair. It's three tiers of white butter cream, decorated using a round bladed knife going in a continual line around each cake and then moved up ( I usually start at the bottom of the tier). The cake was decorated with sugar work blush, pale pink and white roses and O'Hara roses finished with a few green leaves. The picture was taken at a wedding fair at  The Black Horse Inn , with light up letters by De-Lights.
