White and silver fishnet wedding cake

Image
I love silver and white together and I was inspired by the fishnet lace mat by Claire Bowman to make this cake. The bottom tier was made using the Karen Davies Pearl Effect Mould to decorate the sides of cake and finished in a white lustre. The second tier was left plain but edged as were the tall 3rd tier and top tier in two rows of diamante to tie in the sparkle and silver theme. The 3rd tier, a tall tier was 8 inches tall, iced in white but covered in silver metallic fishnet edible lace, made using the Claire Bowman Cake Lace mat, giving this fabulous effect. The top tier was another plain iced tier. The cake was finished with two sprays of white sugar roses place either side of the 2nd tier. In the flesh the cake sparkled but sadly this cannot be seen in the picture.

Eliza and James' winter wedding was held at Salomon's Estate in November 2018. I met Eliza and James at  The Wedding Experience , Detling in April 2018. They had no initial ideas what they wanted for their wedding cake, so when they came to visit me to discuss ideas and taste the cakes, they spent a long time flicking through my cake albums. Eliza came across a 3 tiered square cake that I had made several times with slight variations and fell in love with it there and then. We modified the cake to fit their theme and their colours, it also contained a Gluten Free top tier for the groom. The cake was iced in white icing, each tier edged in white edible pearls. Two tiers, the top and bottom were decorated in Cake Lace and the cake was finished with a cascade of burgundy, pink and white sugar work roses and sprigs of fresh gypsophilia. The cake was set up in the theatre at Salmons Estate in Tunbridge Wells, my first visit there. The cake stand was supplied by the venue. ...
