Shannon and Aaron's Barley Twist Wedding Cake at Cooling Castle Barn

Shannon and Aaron were married at the beautiful Cooling Castle Barn in the spring of 2017.

 

They chose a 4-tier square wedding with the tiers off set to each other (I call this a Barley Twist), one of our popular designs. Shannon and Aaron had chosen pink as their wedding colour and wanted pink incorporated into the design, so we used pale pink ribbon around the edge of each tier which was also completed with a single row of diamante around each tier.

 

The second and top tier were in additionally decorated with a continuous piping technique known as Cornelli work. It’s a very pretty technique that it also quite subtle but adds an additional texture / feature to the cake.

 

The cake was faced points forward and a cascade or pale pink and white sugar roses were added to the top pf the cake and across the front of the cake, covering the point of each tier as they twisted round the cake. I then added a few lose rose petals around the cake to make it look as if they had fallen from the roses.

The cake was topped with a personalised cake topper supplied by the couple themselves.

 

The barn at Cooling Castle is fabulous and the cake looked spectacular under the spotlight on the cake table.

  This is a beautiful cake there is no doubt about it, but whilst it is stunning there is also some sadness behind it.   The cake was designed with a bride and groom for their wedding. It was to be in pink and white with edible cake lace pieces, vintage roses, and hydrangea sprays over 5 gorgeous tiers. Sadly, the couple decided not to get married and to go their separate ways. Vicky and Matt's floral Wedding Cake at The BarnYard

  Vicky and Matt were married in 2017 at The BarnYard in Upchurch. I met them at the wedding fair held at the venue previously.   Vicky had seen a picture of a cake she liked that she wanted reproduced for her wedding. However, after the consultation we decided to make a few changes to personalise the cake just for them.   Vicky and Matt were having pale blue and pink as the colours for their wedding and so we were able to incorporate both of these into the cake design and they also chose a lovely tall 5 tier cake.   The cake itself consisted of three tiers of pale blue icing on the 1 st ,3 rd and 5 th tier and the 2 nd and 4 th tier was made up of ivory tiers.   The top and sides of the top of the blue tiers and the bottom of the ivory tiers were decorated in individual small flowers made from icing, each with pale pink centres.   The other tiers of the cake were edged in a narrow hessian ribbon with a hessian bow at the front of the 3rd tier. A very elegant wedding cake at Cooling Castle Barn

  Tiffany and Phil chose a very elegant wedding cake for their wedding at Cooling Castle Barn in the spring of 2017 .   Sadly, I never actually got to meet the happy couple in person, but they were very happy with their wedding cake and great to work with.   They chose a classic 4 tier wedding cake design decorated in a deep navy-blue ribbon on all 4 tiers and around the cake board.   The top and 2 nd tier were decorated with piping detail of a piped swags and drop pearls.   The 3 rd tier was finished with a flat bow and a lovely silver brooch which was a real focal point for the design.   Tiffany and Phil provided their own bespoke wedding cake topper with completed the cake design perfectly.   This cake is simplicity at its very best, totally elegant and beautiful in every way, looking stunning under the spotlight at Cooling Castle Barn.
