White rose wedding cake

Image
White/ ivory cakes are not really my thing as I love a little bit of colour on a cake if nothing else. At wedding fairs I am often asked if I make "white" cakes so here was my homage to a white cake. It was really hard to design as I wanted to put bits of colour here and there, also there are some great wedding cake designers who specialise in tall Victorian cakes and I was very conscious of not copying anything they had done. I based this design on Victorian style wedding cakes with piping and delicate detailing. I used royal icing piping for the boarders and for the swags on the top and second tier. To create the lace effect I used Claire Bowman Cake Lace and decorated the other tiers with moulds by The Old Piping Bag. To make the cake a little different from my standard sugar flowers I used silk roses for between the tiers and on the top of the cake. Silk flowers are great alternative to fresh and sugar flowers and really under used for weddings. The cake being 6 plus tie...

All white wedding cake

This all white wedding cake was made for the autumn 2018 wedding shows, you may also see it at the winter 2019 shows too. I struggle with all white cakes as I love to add a bit of colour and struggle not to add some maybe as some colour ribbon before its finished. So this was my homage to the all white cake using moulds by  Karen Davies Moulds and  The old piping bag , vertical white stripes on white and an extra large white sugar rose on top, finished with some old fashioned piping!

Welcome to the world little one!

A few years ago, I made a "welcome to the world" cake for the grand daughter of a friend of mine. Now 2 years later there has been a new addition to the family, another little girl called Amelia. The proud grandparents wanted a similar cake for the new arrival. The cake was pretty much designed by them, using pictures of other cakes on my website  www.icedimagescakes.co.uk and facebook page  www.facebook.com/icedimagescakes and the cake that I made previously for the now big sister. Brick mould and bow mould by  The Old Piping Bag .
