Buttercream Wedding Cake

This beautiful buttercream wedding cake is coated in white rustic style buttercream icing and finished with sugar flowers which include dahlia, seed heads, poppies, oak leaves, and berries. The cake is finished with a burnt orange ribbon making it perfect for an autumnal wedding!

It was be easy to add flowers on the top or to the bottom left corner to personalise it further. Always loads of possibilities to make it unique to you.

 This happened a long time ago and is a true story! So back in 1995 I moved 25 miles from my home town, close to where I live now. Katie and Matts Wedding

Katie and Matts Wedding Cake I was first introduced to Katie through Kent Wedding Swap Shop. They were getting married in 5 weeks but the person who was originally going to make their cake couldn't deliver it to the venue on the day. The brief was 3 tiers, dark purple ribbon (def not Cadbury purple.) and a character cake topper for the top tier. The cake was 3 tiers of different flavour sponges, covered in butter icing and double iced in ivory icing. Nice and simple, but nice and simple isn't always easy! Nice and simple means the cake  often doesn't have much decoration of which means there is no room for error. The sides and top have to be perfect as there is nothing you can use to hide any flaws in the icing. The cake and cake board were edged in a deep purple ribbon with a ribbon bow and large diamate broach on the top tier. Concrete Styled Wedding Cake

  In September 2020 I was asked to take part in an Urban Styled Shoot at Sun Pier House in Chatham, Kent. The organiser of the shoot was very specific about the style of cake she wanted for the shoot, a concrete effect three tier cake with orange flowers and six matching mini cakes. I had never made anything like this before but unusual and colourful is my thing so I was happy to give it ago. The cake itself and the mini cakes were made using dummy cakes and iced in grey sugar paste and then textured with grey royal icing to give the concrete effect. I made orange sugar anemones on long stems for the flowers. The mini cakes were made in the same way but with small individual orange flowers on the top of each cake. Sadly I couldn't attend the shoot as I was in post holiday quarantine, so my daughter kindly delivered the cake for me to the shoot in return for brunch.. By chance my friend owns No64 coffee and brunch in Rochester High Street and this is almost opposite Sun Pier House...
