Red Rose Birthday Cake

This beautiful birthday cake was ordered for a daughter for her mum's 70th birthday. The brief was red roses, and a big red 70 on a white cake.

The red roses were sugar work and off set with green rose leaves, and finished with a large 70 made using Patchwork Cutters and finished with a red ribbon, red bow and silver diamante buckle.

The birthday girl was over joyed with her cake as was her daughter!

I LOVE Harry Potter, but sadly the only Harry Potter wedding cake I had been asked to make was a couple of years ago and that was sadly whilst I was away on holiday! Having not been asked since I decided to make my own version for a wedding fair! What size wedding cake do we need for our wedding?

  This is the question I get asked a lot as I am sure you can imagine. I know that some cakemakers have a formula for working out how many portions are needed and hence what size cake a couple should have but that’s not something I am particularly keen to use and, I don’t know what it is anyway!   When discussing ideas and sizes with my couples I always suggest that they bear the following in mind: - ·         If you order a cake for 80 guests, then there is no way to make sure that each of your 80 guests all get a piece for cake. Paul and Meena's naked wedding cake at Eastwell Manor

  Paul and Meena were married at Eastwell Manor, Ashford on Good Friday 2017. It was a beautiful sunny and warm spring day.   They chose a 3-tier naked wedding cake filled with buttercream and decorated in fresh fruits.   A naked cake is a cake whereby there is no icing or frosting on the outside of the cake so that you can see the stacked sponges. The internal structure of the cake with the dowels and boards is exactly the same as any iced wedding cake, even though the cake is much lighter than an iced one.   The fresh fruit adds loads of colour to the cake and makes a fabulous alternative to a traditional cake, all looking fabulous at the most beautiful Eastwell Manor.   Paul and Meena cutting their wedding cake at Eastwell Manor
